Marie Boyard is a multi-faceted creative director, artist and university lecturer from Luxembourg.

Following her studies in European Affairs, with a focus on International and Cross-Cultural Project Management and Communications, Boyard pursued an MFA in Photo Reportage and Documentary Cinematography in Paris, subsequently training with the renowned Magnum Agency.

In her artistic endeavours, Boyard embodies a timeless, often dark, aesthetic characterised by a predominantly minimalistic and monochromatic style. Another distinctive hallmark of her work is the flou, a technique she employs to create a soft and ethereal quality in her imagery. Boyard utilises film as her primary medium and conducts her explorations within the solitude of her darkroom, where she engages in experimental techniques such as alternative printing methods and the selection of artisanal papers. This process allows her to forge unique visual narratives that resonate with depth and introspection. Her thematic inquiries delve into the intricacies of human experience, exploring themes such as the mal de vivre, anxiety and self-destruction. Through the adept construction of imaginary worlds, she blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, inviting viewers to engage with evocative narratives that provoke introspection and reflection. The intentional blur within her images serves as a dual metaphor in her artistic expression. It encapsulates not only the inherent anxiety, uncertainties, and doubts intrinsic to her creative process but also symbolises the persistent mental fog she navigates due to her diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorder. This visual language invites viewers to delve into the emotional and psychological dimensions of her work, fostering a deeper understanding of the intersection between art, personal experience, and the complexities of perception.

Currently, Boyard is deeply engaged in a personal project focused on valorising Luxembourg's architectural heritage within the context of promoting eco-responsibility in cities and municipalities. Additionally, she is directing a documentary scheduled to be released in 2025. Besides her artistic work, Marie Boyard has actively pursued academic achievements and fostered an entrepreneurial spirit.

YUNOMI

In 2018, Marie Boyard founded and curated the independent publication Yunomi, which is dedicated to exploring photography, art, design, and craftsmanship. The publication celebrates aesthetics while analysing artistic approaches and processes across various disciplines. Central to Boyard's mission was highlighting female artists and providing them with a platform to amplify their voices.

The publication quickly gained acclaim, attracting artists, brands, and cultural institutions seeking Boyard's expertise in curation and creative direction. She primarily collaborates on projects in France and Switzerland and frequently writes articles on cultural and artistic topics for international publications.

From 2022 onwards, Yunomi evolved into a dynamic cultural consultancy agency and, in 2024, established a collaborative space for artistic endeavours in Luxembourg City, fostering a vibrant community of innovation and interdisciplinary exchange.

In 2020, Marie Boyard joined forces with her partner, Swiss Chess Grandmaster Yannick Pelletier, to establish a cultural learning hub in Switzerland. This innovative hub evolves around strategic thinking, creativity, and problem-solving through board games such as chess and shogi, as well as artistic expression. Their initiative is dedicated to nurturing a dynamic community where young individuals can delve into strategic thought processes, express themselves artistically, and engage in collaborative problem-solving within a supportive and enriching environment.

TEACHING

In 2022, Marie Boyard completed her studies with distinction at the University of Montpellier in France, where her research paper on Design Thinking and Neuromarketing garnered acclaim. Recognised for her scholarly achievements, she was later invited to join the faculty as a lecturer in Arts & Humanities. Her teaching and research interests span the psychological dimensions of art, visual representation, and imagery, particularly in their applications to contemporary Branding, Neuromarketing, and Communications. These areas highlight her broad interests and expertise, complementing her artistic practice. Currently, she is preparing for a doctoral project to advance her academic pursuits further.
